General Policy

“This is Drayton Valley – Let’s Volunteer” will create an accessible Volunteer Matching platform for information regarding available volunteer opportunities and programs. Information will be available on the website www.thisisdraytonvalley.com and is made available to citizens residing in or visiting Drayton Valley and surrounding areas.

This platform may not be used to advertise for employment opportunities, for seeking of employment or the creation of profit.

Organizations may use this platform to seek volunteers. Individuals may use this platform to seek volunteer opportunities.

Platform Usage

Organizations, groups, and programs:

All posts on the platform must be advertising a specific volunteer role with the following information:

“This is Drayton Valley – Let’s Volunteer” may consider the following social service organizations, community learning opportunities and arts and recreation programs for advertising on the platform:

Private or publicly funded services provide direct human or health services.
Federal, provincial, or municipal Government services providing a direct human service
Children and Youth programs
Not-for-profit organizations which provide a human service, program or resource and that are incorporated under the Societies Act, and/or have Registered Charitable Status
Professional social service organizations
Advocacy groups
Educational institutions and learning opportunities
Arts and Culture groups
Networks or coalitions of direct service providers
Self-help support groups
Organizations that are involved in licensing, planning, funding or coordinating direct services
Organizations (such as service clubs, churches, charities or social clubs), who explicitly state their intention to make the proposed service available to clients without regard to their race, beliefs, religion or political persuasion, and who avoid the use of the proposed service as a means of attempting to convert clients from one faith, opinion, creed or party to another.
Sports, fitness or recreational organizations or facilities
For-profit, private, commercial organizations that provide a community service.
For-profit, private, commercial organizations that are licensed by the government or have special contractual agreements to operate long-term care facilities, child care centers, and certain home care services and provide services at a cost or variable fee to the client.
For-profit services that have a contractual relationship with a funding organization to provide a publicly funded service
Food, clothing, shelter and transportation assistance services
Emergency assistance services
Financial assistance services
Immigrant and refugee services
Access to affordable housing support services.
Ethno cultural groups’ activities and services
Physical, mental or developmental disabilities services and activities
Environmental protection activities
Special interest organizations
Peace/international development/social justice activities and services.
Arts/Cultural events and services
Environment

Individuals seeking volunteer opportunities:

Individuals may contact groups seeking volunteers through posting on the site or directly through the organization. Volunteers can also enter a general application to be seen by site-registered organizations. This information will be protected by FOIP guidelines and only accessible by organizations registered and monitored by the “This is Drayton Valley – Let’s Volunteer” site.

Other information as required by specific organizations upon request

Exclusion Criteria

“This is Drayton Valley – Let’s Volunteer” reserves the right to refuse to post or to discontinue posts for the following reasons:

Organizations that misrepresent by omission or commission, pertinent facts regarding their services, organizational structure, or any other pertinent matter, in any way
There is adequate reason to believe the organization may spread hatred or have a philosophy that could be hurtful to the well-being of groups, individuals, or the community as a whole
Organizations which have had serious complaints lodged against them with any regulatory body.
Organizations that offer or provide unlawful services
Organizations or services that deny service based on ethnic heritage, religion, gender, sexual orientation, citizenship or any other basis not permitted by law or whose services are divisive or discriminatory
Organizations that are not providing the services they claim to be, or have committed fraud, or any other criminal activity
Organizations that fail to respond to requests to update information
Organizations that are shown to obtain or solicit funds using this platform.
Organizations that utilize the platform for non-volunteer-seeking related activities.

Removal from Let’s Volunteer

“This is Drayton Valley – Let’s Volunteer” reserves the right to remove organizations and / or services that we find do not meet the Inclusion Criteria or fall under the Exclusion Criteria noted above.

Grievance/Appeal Process

Decisions to include, exclude, or remove a service listing may be appealed in writing to:

Applications may be made through admin@dvhta.ca or by phone at 780-514-8134. Applications will be reviewed, taking into consideration the criteria and other relevant factors.
